Galleria Borghese information

Art gallery housed in the Borghese gardens

Galleria Borghese is an art gallery of collections belonging to the Italian Borghese family. It was started by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, a nephew of Pope Paul V in the early 17th century and is housed in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana. The gallery features sculptures by the Bernini, and paintings by Caravaggio, Raphael, and Titian. You can find Galleria Borghese located within the Villa Borghese gardens. These gardens also feature several other popular attractions, temples, and museums.

Transportation tips for getting to the Galleria

The closest metro stop to Galleria Borghese is Spagna Station on Line A of the Rome Metro. It takes about 20 minutes walking distance from Spagna Station to reach the entrance of Galleria Borghese, however it is a scenic walk through the garden landscape. Alternatively, if you exit from Barberini Station on the Rome Metro Line A, you will be able to take one of several bus routes (lines 52, 53, 63, 83) to the stop that is located directly in front of the gallery entrance. Transit time if taking the bus from the metro station is about 20-25-minutes. A Rome Metro pass can be purchased for 1.50 EUR that will be valid across both the metro and bus services for 100 minutes with an unlimited ability to make transfers.
